Sara (Weaver) Calderon, of Lititz, born February 19, 1960, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the age of 62.
She was the daughter of the late Ivan and Lavina (Weaver) Weaver and was the wife of Elber A. Calderon.
She was a member of Valley View Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by three sons, Nathaniel of Lititz, Marcus (Courtney) of Bethel, Jesse (Linda) of Farmersville; a daughter, Sara (Michael) Heller of Lebanon; two grandchildren; four brothers, Leon (Velma), Luke (Lois), Ivan (Verna), Glen (Anna); four sisters, Miriam Stover, Erma (Glenn) Martin, Helen (John D.) Martin, Minerva (Aaron) Weaver, and a sister-in-law, Vera Weaver.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Weaver; a sister, Lavina High; two brothers-in-law, John Stover and David High.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Valley View Mennonite Church, 194 Gockley Road, Stevens. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Valley View Mennonite Church.
Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Carpenter, Ruby K. Nusbaum
March 19, 1944 - November 7, 2022
Ruby K. Carpenter, 78, Goshen, died 1:46 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Waterford Crossing, Goshen. She was born March 19, 1944, in Goshen, to Manford & Evelyn (Fulmer) Nusbaum. On November 13, 1965, she married Dewayne L. Carpenter Jr. and he died November 19, 2015.
Surviving are sons, Tim Carpenter, Elkhart, Mike (Lori) Carpenter, Goshen, daughter, Rita (Eric) Bergman, Nappanee, 6 grandchildren, Nic (Madison) Kingsbury, Lexi Bergman, Kenzie Bergman, Faith Carpenter, Alayna Kingsbury & Caleb Carpenter, 2 great-grandchildren, Peyson & Remi, brother, Lester (Roxanne) Nusbaum, North Carolina and sister-in-law, Tina Nusbaum, Arizona.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband, Dewayne, siblings, William “Bill” Nusbaum & Sharon Vaughn.
Ruby was a cosmetologist; she owned two shops, one in Goshen and one in Elkhart. She was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, where she was involved with the Deliverance Ministry, Stephen Ministry teams and was head cook for church daycare. Ruby enjoyed sewing and would shop for hours inside the fabric stores. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in every aspect of life. She was a 4-H Rabbit Club Leader. Ruby enjoyed reading, birds, her flowers and vegetable garden, camping, spending time in nature, traveling and going on bus tours.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, November 12, 2022, all at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 CR 11, Goshen. (Enter from west side of the building for viewing.) Pastor Wes Bontreger and Pastor Doug Gerber will officiate. Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Carter, Brent Llewellyn
November 21, 1947 - January 31, 2022
Brent Llewellyn Carter, 74, of Sheldon, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, surrounded by family, after a long journey with Parkinson’s and dementia.
Brent was born to Howard and Beulah (Hershey) Carter on Nov. 21, 1947, at Ladysmith. He was the fourth son of seven children.
On July 4, 1969, he married Esther Kauffman, the girl across the line fence. Together they raised a family of four sons and four daughters.
Brent was an avid fisherman, hunter, diary farmer and logger. The family fondly remembers many happy days fishing, hunting, fall picnics in the woods, and playing ballgames in the front yard. Relationships with family and neighbors were always important to Brent. Brent had a love for the Lord and for singing, and was a faithful member of the Shiloh Mennonite Church.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Beulah; his son, James; three brothers, Robert, Dick and Tom; two sisters, Alice Jane and Sarah and his grandson, Derek Stoltzfus.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; seven children, Tammy (Mark) Smith of Carpenter, Wyo., Howard (Lynette) Carter of Tony, Julie (Jesse) Stoltzfus of Glenwood City, Bradley (Gail) Carter of Dalton, Ohio, Craig (Jewel) Carter of Sheldon, Patricia (Joe) Dick of Canyon, British Columbia and Renae (Kevin) Shafer of Downing; 42 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his sister, Doris Jean Byers.
Brent will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The visitation and funeral will be held at Shiloh Mennonite Church, W7385 County Road I in Conrath. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 10:30 a.m. with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Case, Janice Elaine Trotter
February 22, 1949 - January 9, 2022
Janice Elaine Case, 72, of Middlebury, died at 11:55 am on Sunday, January 9 at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. She was born on February 22, 1949, in Leetonia, OH, to John and Elsie (Martin) Trotter. On June 25, 1983, in Middlebury, she married David Case, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are brother, Harold (Millie) Trotter of OH and sister-in-law, Rosemary (Bob) Masters of Middlebury.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Laurie Puckett.
Janice was a member of Maple City Chapel. She taught Sunday school at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren and volunteered with Faith Mission. She worked for ESI Meats, Stoutco Inc., and EarthWay Products. Janice enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading, playing the piano, and traveling. She also loved collecting teapots.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 12 followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Joe Miller. Memorials may be given to Right to Life or RETA.
Charles, Eileen M. "Leenie" Weaver
November 25, 1947 - July 26, 2022
Eileen M. "Leenie" Charles, 74, of Leola, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July, 26, 2022 after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Levi H. "Lee" Charles. They were married 53 years last December. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Esther Groff Weaver.
Eileen was a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent most of her nursing career in the office of Dr. John Rutt, Gordonville. She was an active member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola where she filled many volunteer roles including teaching Sunday school, VBS and decorating the church. She was a 27 year breast cancer survivor.
Leenie enjoyed trips to Tioga County to her family cabin, book club with friends, decorating her home and helping others decorate theirs. Together with Lee they enjoyed couples motorcycle trips, square dancing, and traveling with friends. She enjoyed playing tennis and trips to the beach with her sisters. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
She will be lovingly missed by: two daughters, Julie married to Preston Nelson, Quarryville, Jill married to Jeffrey Stoltzfoos, Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Levi, Hailey and Bella Ann Nelson, Clare, Grace, Annabelle and Friedrich Stoltzfoos; siblings, Barbara married to Marlin Hershey, Lititz, Brenda married to Kenneth Covelens, Lancaster, Fred married to Linda Weaver, Birmingham, AL, Carol married to Donovan Oberholtzer, Lititz, Nancy married to Lynn Roth, Lancaster, Keith married to Jennefer Weaver, Harrisonburg, VA, D. Michael married to Amy Weaver, Dillsburg and numerous extended family members.

Charlton, Mary Alice Graybill
January 19, 1954 - February 10, 2022
Mary Alice Charlton, 68, of Richfield, passed into eternal rest with Jesus at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at her residence.
Born on January 19, 1954, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is a daughter of the late Glenn and Anna (Weaver) Graybill.
On March 15, 1975, she married her late husband, Daniel Wayne Charlton, with whom she was blessed to share over 42 years before he preceded her in death on January 8, 2018.
She is survived by: five sons and six daughters, Doris Hoover and her husband Jay, of Richfield, D. Wayne Charlton and his wife Rachael, of Richfield, Mark Charlton of Richfield, Dorothy Widrick and her husband Emmanuel, of Copenhagen, NY, Marlin Charlton and his wife Sharon of McAlisterville, Janet Burkholder and her husband Dennis of Lowville, NY, Marilyn Charlton of Tylertown, MS, Karen Charlton of Richfield, Jay Charlton and his wife Aremina, of Lewisburg, John Charlton and his wife Rhoda of McAlisterville, and Mary Zeiset and her husband Justin of Mifflinburg; siblings, Esther Graybill, Edith Graybill, Gladys Gingrich and her husband Dale, Timothy Graybill and his wife Amanda, David Graybill and his wife Marie, Daniel Graybill and his wife Peg, Elizabeth Ann Zimmerman and her husband Terry, and Leon Graybill and his wife Lisa; and twenty four grandchildren.
Mrs. Charlton was a member of the Goodwill Mennonite Church, Thompsontown.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Millerstown Mennonite Church, 731 Raccoon Valley Road, Millerstown, PA with the Goodwill Mennonite Ministry officiating.
Interment will follow in the Goodwill Mennonite Cemetery, Thompsontown.

Christophel, Mary Lucille Martin
December 8, 1934 - December 27, 2022
Mary Lucille (Martin) Christophel of Goshen, Indiana, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She had reached her eighty-eighth birthday on December 8, 2022. Mary was born in 1934, in rural Wakarusa, to Homer and Emma (Kilmer) Martin. She grew up in the country, the middle of five children. Mary's family was Wisler Mennonite for many of her growing-up years. She attended a one-room schoolhouse for eight years and then Nappanee High School, from which she graduated in 1953. She was one of only five Mennonites in her high school. After high school, Mary took classes for one year at Goshen College.
She married the love of her life, Jim Christophel, on June 19, 1954, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Following her long family tradition of Mennonite quilters and artists, Mary made her own wedding dress-arriving home from Goshen College just in time to complete it.
After their wedding, Jim and Mary lived in Goshen before moving to Chicago for a year of service and later to Fish Lake and Muncie, Indiana, and Harrisonville, Missouri. They ultimately settled in South Bend, where they lived for forty years. Following Jim's retirement, they moved to Greencroft Goshen, where they lived for twelve years.
Together Jim and Mary raised four children. Mary loved and invested in each of them, as well as in her grandchildren. She loved to read, including reading aloud to her children and grandchildren when they were young. She held a number of jobs over the years-working at Montgomery Ward catalog, as a Cory Coffee sales representative, and as a grocery store broker (complete with a company car). Mary cut and pieced the "Tree of Life," a quilted banner designed by artist Sibyl Graber Gerig that hangs at Kern Road Mennonite Church. The piece has been described as a Mennonite stained-glass window. In reflecting on her efforts, Mary later wrote that she worshipped God best with her hands. Mary was deeply committed to living out her faith by serving others, including helping launch Kern Road Mennonite Church's Global Gifts store, now Ten Thousand Villages.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jim; 3 children, Michael Christophel, Conyers, GA, Susan Miller
Barrows, Augusta, ME, and Mark (Kathy) Christophel, McKinney, TX; 3 siblings, Nelson (Mary) Martin, Dot (Mel) Keim, and Erma (Leon) Martin Yost; 6 grandchildren, Hannah (Sam) Wiswell, Naomi (Brittany) Miller, Abigail Christophel, Graham Christophel, Johanna (Adam) Smith, and Eva Ruth (Nathan) Bierema; and 1 great-grandson, Grayson Wiswell.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, son, Stephen Christophel, and brother, Virgil Martin.
The family will receive visitors at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. A service of remembrance will immediately follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Deron
Bergstresser officiating. Mary donated her body to Indiana University School of Medicine to support future scientific research.

Chupp, Edna Ruth Eigsti
January 21, 1933 - January 7, 2022
Edna Ruth Chupp, 88, of Goshen, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger.
She was born January 21, 1933 in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Peter and Ida Belle (Hostetler) Eigsti.
On January 27, 1957, she married Mervin David Chupp. He survives, along a son, Brent (Lauri) Chupp of Goshen; four grandchildren and one sister, Nellie Hostetler of Hesston Kansas.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Hunt; two brothers, Arthur Eigsti and Clarence Eigsti; three sisters, Bertha Hostetler, Mary Zoss, and Rose Ulrich; one infant sister, Beulah Eigsti; and two half-sisters, Esther Ulrich and Lillian Ulrich.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. Chupp was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and kept her family as her highest priority. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper for area businesses and as a switchboard operator for Goshen Hospital. Along with her husband, she was part owner/operator of Goshen Motor Inn for several years.
Edna’s favorite pastimes included crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and playing table games as well as motorcycle excursions with Mervin. She was a constant support to her husband in his business ventures and volunteer activities.
Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen, and on Saturday, January 15 at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, in Goshen, 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Pastors Neil Amstutz and Deron Bergstresser will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery in the spring.

July 2, 1924 - June 4, 2022
John J. Chupp, age 97 of Nappanee, IN, went home to be with the Lord at 6pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen, IN. Mr. Chupp was born on July 2, 1924 to Joseph C.S. and Amanda (Detweiler) Chupp in Owen, WI. John moved to the Nappanee area from Wisconsin at the age of 18 in 1943. On June 20, 1957 John married Esther Lehman. She preceded in death on August 15, 2015. John was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mr. Chupp is survived by 4 children: Ruth Ann (Randell) Rodgerson of Syracuse, IN, Marvin J. (Karen) Chupp of Milford, IN, Mervin R. (Glenda) Chupp of Goshen, and Rose Mary (John) Metzger of New Paris, IN; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 1 step great great granddaughter; and a sister-in-law Nancy Chupp of Eden Valley, MN.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter Rachele Metzger; and 13 siblings: Raymond Chupp, Lydia Graber, Levi Chupp, Mary Gingerich, Elizabeth Schrock, Samuel Chupp, Rudolph Chupp, William Chupp, Joseph Chupp, Andrew Chupp, Salina Chupp, Anna Miller, and Harvey Chupp.
Friends and family may call after 4 pm Sunday, June 5, 2022 and all-day Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Allen Kaufman residence (9349 W 1350 N, Nappanee, IN). Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Allen Kaufman residence. Omer J. Chupp, 77 years, 11 months, 24 days of rural Tuscola, Illinois passed away at 5:46 AM on Monday, December 19, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the HCK West Building, one mile south of Arthur, Illinois. Bishop Larry Helmuth will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in rural Arthur, Illinois. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the HCK West Building, and any time after 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the HCK West Building. Omer was born on December 25, 1944, in Jonathan Creek Township, Moultrie County, Illinois. He was a son of Jacob M. and Mattie A. (Herschberger) Chupp. He married Lorene A. Miller on November 12, 1970, in rural Arthur, Illinois; they lived in Holy Matrimony 52 years, 1 month, 7 days.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Chupp; five children, Loretta Schrock and her husband Eldon of Arthur, IL, Treva Farmwald and her husband Philip of Sullivan, IL, Rosanna Miller and her husband Willard of Tuscola, IL, Wilbur Chupp and his wife Viola (Stutzman) of Arthur, IL, and David Chupp and his wife Lori (Hochstetler) of Arcola, IL, 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, Lewis Chupp and his wife Mary (Bontrager) of Tuscola, IL, three sisters, Edna Schrock of Arthur, IL, Clara Schrock and her husband Edward of Arthur, IL and Wilma Yoder of Crab Orchard, KY, two sisters-in-law, Anna Chupp of Shipshewana, IN and Verna Viola Chupp of Arthur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joas Chupp, Eli Chupp and Edward Chupp, two brothers-in-law, Fred Schrock, and Eli Yoder, one sister-in-law, Esther Chupp, and a great grandson, Justin Luke Schrock.

June 19, 1939 - May 11, 2022
Sylvia (Burkholder) Chupp, age 82, was born June 19, 1939 in Bremen, Indiana to Joseph Jr. and Fannie (Slabaugh) Burkholder. After a period of declining health, she passed away May 11, 2022, [Spenser, WI] surrounded by her family.
On November 12, 1959, she married Emery F. Chupp. After being married for 4 years, two and a half months, he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1964. Sylvia lived in widowhood for over 58 years.
She is survived by her four children: Paul and Rachel Chupp, Spencer, WI; Naomi and Aaron Sommers, Richland Center, WI; Laura and Duane Miller, Madison, New York; and Floyd Ray and Rosa Chupp, Salem, Indiana; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Fern and Mervin Miller and Linda Menzie. Sisters-in-law, Katie Ann Hochstetler, Esther and Ora Miller, Susie and Diedrich Fehr and Fern Burkholder and brother-in-law, Melvin Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery; her parents; 2 grandchildren: Mary Kay Chupp and Jeffrey Miller and a great-grandson, Bryan Hostetler; and her siblings and in-laws, Edith and Ammon Hochstetler; Ward and Verna Burkholder; Earl Burkholder; Ray and Lorene Burkholder; Owen Burkholder; Carl and Rosetta Burkholder; Ruth Miller; and Kenny Menzie.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Spencer Amish Church, W386 Mann Rd. Spencer, Wisconsin, where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Coblentz, Jacob R.
September 24, 1939 - December 2, 2022
Jacob R. Coblentz, 83, of 8286 Fountain Nook Road, Apple Creek, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Holmes County on September 24, 1939 to the late Rudy J. and Mary Ann (Miller) Coblentz and on November 15, 1962 he married Freda Yoder. She survives.
He retired from farming and a pallet shop. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and he was ordained a deacon on April 26, 1985.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 7 children, Mary Ann of the home, Clara (John) Alexander of Nevada, Robert (Clara) Coblentz of Millersburg, John (Katie Mae) Coblentz of Apple Creek, Adrian (Mary) Coblentz of Fredericksburg, Ada Mae Miller of Shreve, and Amanda Coblentz of Fredericksburg; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Andy R. (Sarah) Coblentz; and a sister, Amanda Coblentz.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Eli, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 9:00 am at the former Maysville Fabric Store, 10476 Harrison Road, Maysville, with Bishop Martin J. Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Maysville Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 5:00 pm on Friday and anytime on Saturday. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.

Coffman, Phoebe Frances
October 22, 1925 - May 19, 2022
Phoebe Frances Coffman, 96, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab Center.
Miss Coffman was born Oct. 22, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Homer William and Ella Swope Coffman of Dayton.
She taught Parochial School in Ohio for several years and also was a caregiver to her father and others. She was a member of Weavers Mennonite Church and served on many committees including the library committee. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Amos, Samuel, Paul and David Coffman; and her sisters, Sarah Coffman Campbell and Naomi Coffman Swartz. She was the last surviving member of her family.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Weavers Mennonite Church Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Poeckert officiating.
Those wishing to sign the book may do so Saturday afternoon from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. The casket will remain closed.

Francis Richard Walter Cook, age 90 and a resident of Lemoyne, PA for 69 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Londonderry Village in Palmyra, PA. Born May 19, 1932 in Dillsburg, PA, Richard was the son of the late Merle H. and Orpha E. (Walker) Cook.
Richard and his wife, the former Gladys A. Heisler, married on March 24, 1951 and have recently celebrated their 71stwedding anniversary. Together, they have lived a full and blessed life. Richard and Gladys met in church, where Gladys was part of the “Gospel Messengers” singing group. The evangelistic group sang and preached in churches throughout Pennsylvania for many years in the 1950’s, 60’s & 70’s. Gladys sang and played guitar while Richard presented layered flannel-graph pictures depicting various stories from the Bible.
Richard worked most of his career at the former Dauphin Deposit Bank & Trust Co., in Harrisburg. Despite not having the opportunity to attend college, he advanced from being a Teller, to being a Senior Vice President for Corporate Trust wherein he helped countless Pennsylvania municipalities create, market, and fund their Bond programs for schools, roads, parks, etc.
In the earlier years, Richard, who maintained his PA Electricians License, also did side jobs to help ends meet. He learned the trade from his father. Away from his professional work, Richard was active in his church and was an active supporter of the Lemoyne Little League where his boys played baseball. He was infamous for his leadership of “hoagie” sandwich fundraisers. He was president of the PTA and was an active band booster. He also served his community as the “Judge of Elections” in Lemoyne for almost 20 years.
After retirement, Richard was active (for as long as he was able) in the Gideons, an organization that purchases and distributes Bibles to churches, schools, hotels, prisons, and anyone who asks. One of his favorite Gideon activities was sharing God’s word with new enlistees in the US military.
Once their children grew up and left home, Richard and Gladys were able to enjoy traveling to several places they had dreamed of, including Italy, Germany, and Alaska. Richard and Gladys built their lives and their family around their faith in God. They were both active in the former Rana Villa Chapel, for decades, as this is where they attended while their children grew up.
Richard was a loving husband, a dedicated father, a caring grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, a dear brother and loyal friend who touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to his wife Gladys, Richard is survived by his seven children, Larry R. Cook and wife Julie of High Point, NC, David C. Cook and wife Judy of Colorado Springs, CO, Lawn E. Cook and wife Laurel of Mechanicsburg, Metra Kay Luckenbill and husband Gary of Lancaster, Phillip C. Cook and wife Tamara of Mechanicsburg, Gayle R. Harris and husband Steve of Palmyra, and Sheila M. Jensen and her husband James of Mays Landing, NJ, a sister Esther Greiner of Miltona, MN; 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, a great great grandson as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Richard's caregivers, doctors and nurses, Londonderry Village and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for their care in his final years, months, and days.
Public viewings will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Slate Hill Mennonite Church, 1352 Slate Hill Rd, Camp Hill, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Cross, Allen Jay "Butch"
January 11, 1947 - February 4, 2022
Allen “Butch” Jay Cross, 75, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, at home surrounded by his loving family after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Elkhart to Mahlon and Clara (Kauffman) Cross.
On March 1, 1969, he married Wanda I. Kilmer in Middlebury.
She survives along with three children, Jeff (Kathy) Cross, Elkhart, Sherry (Mark) Kunze, New Paris and Lesley (Cody) Jones, Goshen; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and another due in September.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard, Mel, Alvin “Sonny”, Mahlon Jr., Kenneth and James; two sisters, Amanda Thomas and Sylvia “Sis” Larimer.
Allen worked his early adulthood at Coachmen Industries as their first ever forklift driver and other positions. But most of his life he was a truck driver for several companies including Middlebury Produce, Burger Dairy, Bakers Express and most recently, Master Brands Cabinetry as a yard jockey.
Allen enjoyed many different sports and in his younger years played fast pitch softball in Goshen and Middlebury and basketball in the Middlebury Mens’ League. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan. He was very proud of his family, enjoying his grandkids sporting and school events. But most of all, he loved the family get togethers on holidays and birthdays, with the 30 plus family members he and Wanda have brought together.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral services to immediately follow at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. H. John Veenstra will officiate.
Burial will follow at Benton Cemetery followed by fellowship and sharing of memories at Benton Mennonite Church.
The family would like to strongly encourage those attending the funeral service to wear a flannel shirt or sports team jersey, as Allen was never a suit and tie guy. (And yes Pete Miller, you can even wear your Bears jersey)

Deal, Esther Arlene Showalter
June 18, 1931 - January 10, 2022
Esther Arlene Showalter Deal, 90, of Goshen, died Monday, January 10, 2022 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born June 18, 1931 in Elkhart County to Noble L. and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter.
Esther graduated from Goshen College in 1953 with a B.S. in Education. She received a Masters degree from Ball State University in 1962.
She was an elementary public-school teacher in Clinton Township and Topeka, and in 1958 went to Phoenix, Arizona to teach on the Navajo Indian Reservation for five years. She returned to Indiana in 1964 and taught in Griffith and Concord elementary schools for four years each.
In September 1973 she married L. Thomas Deal, a businessman from Fort Wayne. Mr. Deal had four children from a previous marriage; Linda Speaks of Knoxville, Tennessee, Larry (Darlene) Deal of Kingstowne, Virginia; David (Linda) Deal of Las Vegas, Nevada and Tim Deal of Fort Wayne.
After the death of her husband Tom in 2007, she moved to Greencroft, Goshen from Fort Wayne. While living in Fort Wayne she was a member of Beacon Heights, Church of the Brethren and later joined Waterford Mennonite Church upon moving to Goshen.
Esther was very involved in American Association of University Women, loved singing in choirs, growing flowers and watching birds, traveling, quilting and volunteered with the Goshen Hospital Auxiliary and was also an avid reader.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Vesta (Albert) Stroman and Charlene (Theron) Christophel; and five brothers, Stahly (Fern), Jay, Gerald, Glen and Dale (Janet)Showalter.
Surviving along with her step-children are three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Lois, Rose Ann and Sherry Showalter; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be one hour of visitation Friday, January 14, 2022 prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

Denlinger, Betty G.
October 19, 1927 - May 12, 2022
Betty G. Denlinger, 94, of Landis Homes, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Anna M. (Groff) and Paul M. Denlinger.
Betty was a life member of Strasburg Mennonite Church. Betty was the former librarian at the church, a Sunday School Teacher, a Vacation Bible School Teacher, a volunteer at Landis Homes and a Mennonite Historical Society Volunteer. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Betty worked at Provident Book Store and Goodville Mutual for over 30 years. Betty was a prayer warrior and enjoyed cooking. She was an avid reader and will be remembered for her unshakable faith.
Betty is survived by her sisters: A. Martha wife of Clayton Nessley and Edna D. Weaver of Landis Homes and Lois A. wife of Pastor H. Wesley Boyer of East Earl; 3 half sisters: Cathy Bock (Pat), Rockville, MD, Paulette Campbell (Bob), Rockville, MD, Janet Robinson (Bill), Summerville, SC as well as several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

Roy C. Derstine, of 5534 S. West Lebanon Road, Dalton, OH, born August 24, 1931 and died January 26, 2022 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 2 days.
He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church. He was the son of the late Elwood and Emmaline (Clemens) Derstine and the husband of Mary Jane (Landis) Derstine.
He is survived by 6 sons, Eugene (Carol) Derstine of Apple Creek, OH, Allen (Loretta) Derstine of Thorp, WI, Andrew (Mary) Derstine of Lena, WI, Aquilla (Anna) Derstine of Crockett, KY, Noah (Loretta) Derstine of Lena, WI and Elwood (Elaine) Derstine of Gleason, WI; eight daughters, Susan (Kenneth) Steiner of Thorp, WI, Sylvia (James) Amstutz of Dalton, OH, Rachel (the late Gerald) Rudolph of New Oxford, PA, Helen (John) Weaver of Knox City, MO, Carolyn (Kenneth) Eberly of Dalton, OH, Grace (Wilbur) Steiner of Leetonia, OH, Barbara (Ferdi) Seeuws of Sheldon, WI and Miriam of Gleason, WI; 110 grandchildren; 147 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alderfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gerald Rudolph; two grandsons, Marcus Weaver and Owen Amstutz; a great grandson, Michael Steiner; three brothers, Lloyd, Ernest and Elwood Jr., and two sisters, Grace and Elizabeth.

Detweiler, Lisa Anne Guengerich
April 30, 1975 - November 10, 2022
We are saddened by the loss of Lisa Anne Detweiler, 47, of New Castle, Colorado due to an accident, November 10 [2022]. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, April 30, 1975. Her family began living in Goshen, IN when she was in 1st grade. She attended Bethany Christian School, graduating in 1993 and also graduated from Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA. She moved to Colorado in 2006 and married Merle Detweiler October 13, 2007.
She was employed by the Garfield County Library System. Prior to that, she worked at YouthZone in Glenwood Springs, CO. She was an active member of Defiance Church, Glenwood Springs.
She was daughter of Vernard and Florence [Brubacher] Guengerich, of Goshen, IN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Larry (Kendra) of East Petersburg, PA, Mark (Angela) of Broomfield, CO, and Jay, of Valparaiso, IN. In addition, father-in-law Melvin Detweiler, of Fredericksburg, OH, brothers-in-law Larry (Wanda) of Fredericksburg, Roy (Dorothy) Miller of Sugar Creek, OH and brother-in-law Gary of Fredericksburg survive. She is also survived by 14 nephews and 4 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willard and Verna Guengerich, and William and Annie Brubacher. In addition, her brother-in-law Daryl Detweiler, mother-in-law Ada Detweiler and her grandmother-in-law Clara Detweiler preceded her.
Lisa was always up for a good adventure, and loved her times outdoors, especially hikes through the wilds of Colorado. She was known for maintaining friendships long after moving away from persons to whom she was connected. Through her work and volunteer efforts, she touched many lives and will be deeply missed. After organ donation, in line with her wishes, she will be cremated.

Craig Alan Detwiler, 56, of Goshen passed away unexpectedly Tuesday June 7, 2022 at his residence.
He was born July 19, 1965 in Goshen to Thomas and Rosemary (Yoder) Detwiler.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas and Rosemary of Spencer, Wisconsin; siblings, Patrick (Abby) Detwiler of Colby, WI, Robert (Dana) Detwiler of Medford, WI; nieces, Katelyn Detwiler, Josephine Detwiler and a nephew, Alessandro Detwiler.
Craig graduated from Wausau West High School in 1985.
He moved back to Goshen in 1993.
Craig worked at Hamilton Iron Works as a metal fabricator.
He attended Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church.
Craig was very active in steam engine shows. He was a member of the Northeast Indiana Steam and Gas Association at LaGrange and was involved in the tractor and steam show at the Apple Festival in Nappanee.
He traveled the country to attend steam engine shows in Iowa, Oklahoma, Ohio and many in Indiana. He did extensive research into the Banting Manufacturing Company, Toledo Ohio due to his great interest in the Greyhound steam engine, which Banting made.
A public Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held at a date to be determined.

Jacob S. Dienner, age 83, of Gordonville, PA, passed away at his home on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was the husband of Ada K. Stoltzfus Dienner. He was born in Gap, son of the late Gideon S. & Sarah L. Stoltzfus Dienner. He was an active member of the Weavertown Mennonite Church. He was a farmer and founder of Dienner's Country Restaurant of Ronks. He was a member of Gideons International and the Intercourse Fire Company.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 children: Priscilla wife of Daniel Beiler of Mill Hall, PA, John husband of Rosalyn Beiler Dienner of Gordonville, Samuel husband of Mary Miller Dienner of Seneca, SC, Ada Ruth Dienner of Romania, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Sarah L. wife of the late Samuel Lapp of Leola. He was preceded in death by 11 siblings: John, Andy, Leah, Barbara, Susie, Ike, Abraham, Mary, Daniel, Gideon and Nancy.
Funeral service will take place from the Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville, PA, on Monday, April 4th at 10 a.m. with a viewing time from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. There will also be a viewing at Ridgeview Mennonite Church on Sunday, April 3rd, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in the Weavertown Mennonite Cemetery.
Driver, John
March 28, 1924 - March 17, 2022
John Driver, 97, of Greencroft Goshen, died on March 17, 2022, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born in Newton, Kansas, on March 28, 1924, and raised in Hesston, Kansas, in a nurturing Mennonite congregation and loving biological family, which encouraged his vocation to Christian service and mission.
John was predeceased by his wife, Bonita Landis (Bonny), his parents (Daniel D and Cora Schrock), his sister (Rachel Driver), and his brother (Vincent Driver). He is survived by his brother (Donald Driver) and his children, Cynthia (James Rempel), Fred (Joyce Meyer), Jonathan, and two grandsons, Daniel (Jane Brannen) and Jacob Driver
As a conscientious objector during World War II, John was assigned to Civilian Public Service in a training unit in preparation for an eventual postwar relief assignment overseas. In 1945, at the age of 21, he was invited by the Mennonite Central Committee to serve in a community development project in Puerto Rico. This was his introduction to the Spanish-speaking world. He worked there as a social worker in the mid-1940s, and later as a pastor and church planter in the 1950s and 1960s.
Following his first year in Puerto Rico, John and Bonny, from Jackson, Minnesota, were married in December 1946. They had met earlier at Hesston College. Together they volunteered for another term of service which led to their long-term commitment to mission. After nearly 18 years of service in community development, church planting, pastoral care and leadership formation in the church in Puerto Rico, John was invited to serve as academic dean and professor of church history and New Testament in the Inter-Mennonite Seminary in Montevideo, Uruguay. John and Bonny arrived in Uruguay with their three children in January 1967.
John Driver's pilgrimage in the Spanish-speaking world for more than six decades defined his life of mission. It shaped his vision of the world, his ideology, and his understanding of the Gospel and mission. For his intellectual and spiritual growth, he owed more to his brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Argentina and Spain (as well as many more throughout Latin America), as he did to his own Swiss-German biological and spiritual ancestors.
In 1989, John and Bonny retired to Goshen, Indiana. At Greencroft he became known as an avid biker, woodworker, and gardener. During retirement he also continued to author many books and respond to invitations to teach throughout Latin America and Spain. He saw the Gospel of Jesus Christ become, quite literally, good news for the poor, a gospel of peace and justice in their full biblical senses, and a gospel of grace communicated most authentically by a reconciled and reconciling community. He felt privileged to witness these realities throughout his life in mission.
A memorial service (virtual access Zoom link shown below) will be held at the East Goshen Mennonite Church on Friday, March 25. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. with the service following at 7 p.m. Masks are required for those attending in person. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, Indiana.
Memorials may be given to the Maple City Health Care Center or Mennonite Central Committee.
Dull, Shirley M. Shirk Stauffer
November 23, 1942 - February 21, 2022
Shirley M. (Shirk) Stauffer Dull, 79, of Narvon, passed away on February 21, 2022 at Wellspan York Hospital. Born in Narvon, she was the daughter of the late David and Bertha (Wiker) Shirk. She was the loving wife of the late A. Douglas Stauffer.
She was a graduate of Garden Spot High School and was employed as a laundry aide for Zerbe Retirement Community for over thirty years. She had also worked at Shady Maple for several years.
Shirley enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, making cards with her sister, word search puzzles, bird watching, gardening, cooking, shopping from QVC, decorating for the holidays, playing games and animals. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren, and she always enjoyed a good laugh.
Shirley is survived by her children; Marcia L. wife of John D. Parsons and Wayne D. Dull, grandchildren; Cora E. Parsons and Emma N. Parsons and siblings; David Shirk, Jr. and Susan wife of Joseph Stauffer.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is predeceased by her siblings; George Shirk, Robert Shirk and Ruth Reifsnyder.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main Street, Morgantown, PA 19543. There will be a viewing held for one hour prior to the time of service. Interment will be held in Center Union Cemetery, East Earl PA 17519.

Eash, Darlene J. Chupp
October 26, 1937 - March 3, 2022
Darlene J. Eash, 84, died Thursday, March 3, 2022 at her home.
She was born October 26, 1937, in Jasper County to Orestus and Reva (Hooley) Chupp.
On June 8, 1953, she married Rev. Theodore Eash in Topeka. He died May 1, 2009.
Survivors include four children; Christina (James) Bromley, Wendy Eash, Mark (Kathy) Eash and Tim (Malinda) Eash and a daughter-in-law, Heidi Eash, all of Bristol; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Brent Eash and two brothers, Gerald and Larry Chupp.
Darlene was a member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church and formerly an active member of Forks Mennonite Church. She started teaching school in Topeka and then devoted herself to the role of mother and pastor’s wife for many years. Later in life she taught again at Clinton Christian School and Bristol and finally worked as a librarian at Bristol Public Library.
Darlene generously gave a lot of love and time to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An admirer of nature, she had a mischievous sense of humor and it was a great joy to make her laugh.
She was a true servant – there was no hard work she was unwilling to do; often working on the farm, feeding people, and gardening among many other tasks. She and Ted spent much of their time together connecting with those who longed for relationships.
Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bonneyville Mennonite Church where an 11 a.m. Saturday memorial service will be conducted. Pastor Mariah Martin will officiate.
A family graveside service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Mennonite Mission Network.
Eash, Kendra Grace
February 1, 2022 - February 25, 2022
Kendra Grace Eash, 25 day old daughter Lamar and Erma (Bontrager) Eash, of Middlebury, died at 9:30 PM on Friday, February 25, at her residence. She was born on February 1 in Fort Wayne and had been ill since birth.
Surviving in addition to her parents are three brothers, Kylan Ryan Eash, Jason Eric Eash, Jeryl Adam Eash all at home; two sisters, Krislyn Faith Eash and Sabrina Jayne Eash both at home; two grandparents, William and Amelia Eash of Topeka and William and Annabelle Bontrager of Middlebury.
Visitation will be after 12:00 noon on Sunday, February 27, at the family's residence, 56343 County Rd. 43 Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, February 28, also at the family’s residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Norman Lehman and the home ministers. Burial will be in Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Eash, Anna Marie Knepp
February 20, 1951 - May 5, 2022
Anna Marie Eash, 71, of LaGrange, died at 3:35 am on Thursday, May 5, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. She was born on February 20, 1951, in LaGrange, to Chris J. and Mary W. (Lambright) Knepp. On July 13, 1988, in LaGrange, she married Daniel L. Eash, he died April 27, 2014.
Surviving are three brothers, William (Edith) Knepp of LaGrange, Enos (Mary Anna) Knepp of Millersburg, Christy Jr. (Irma) Knepp of LaGrange; two sisters, Ada Mae (Wilbur) Fry of Topeka, Edna Ellen (Stanley) Miller of Topeka; sister-in-law, Katie Knepp of Topeka; stepmother, Ella (Elva) Bontrager of Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, John C., Melvin C., and Orva C. Knepp. Anna Marie was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Friday, May 6, and all day Saturday, May 7, at the Christy Jr. Knepp residence, 1275 S. 375 W., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Sunday, May 8, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Richard H. Bontrager. Burial will be in Bloomfield Hill Cemetery, LaGrange.
Eberly, Eugene S.
September 6, 1936 - October 22, 2022
Eugene S. Eberly, 86, a resident of Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, passed away early Saturday morning following several years of declining health. He was married 23 years to Thelma Horst Eberly. His first wife, Nora Beiler Eberly passed away in 1996. Born in Leola, he was the son of the late Melvin N. and Celestine Sauder Eberly.
Eugene was a hog and beef cattle farmer for many years in New Holland, also doing custom combining in the local area. He enjoyed restoring John Deere Tractors as well as other pieces of farm equipment. Eugene enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Belleville.
He was a long-time faithful member of Groffdale Mennonite Church, serving in many capacities over the years. His Christian faith was always important to him. He always assured his family of his continual prayers and concerns for all of them.
Surviving are four children, Judy wife of Ed Ricca of Weyers Cave, VA, Marilyn wife of Clair Siegrist of East Earl, Rodney husband of Marilyn Petersheim Eberly of New Holland, and Gwen wife of Rodney Shumaker of Marietta; three step children, Yvonne wife of Keith Nyce of Gordonville, Gary husband of Renee Mumma Groff of Annville, and Kim wife of Craig Stoltzfus of Parkesburg; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Clair S. husband of Arlene Beam Eberly of New Holland, and a sister, Ruth Ann wife of Carl Gingrich of New Holland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Eberly.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 28, at 11:00 A.M. at the Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 N. Groffdale Road, Leola, PA with Pastor's Tom Eshleman and Keith Nyce officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Garden Towers at Garden Spot Village, and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the Groffdale Mennonite Church.

Marian Eberly, age 95, of Orrville, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at her residence in Orrville, following a period of declining health.
Marian was born on May 9, 1927, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Reuben and Minnie (Martin) Horst and graduated from Dalton High School in 1945. She married Homer Eberly on October 21, 1951. Homer died on January 18, 2016.
She worked as a homemaker.
Marian was a member of East Union Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are five children, Neal Eberly of Orrville, Marcella (Marlin) Burkholder of Mifflintown, PA, Charles "Chuck" (Elsie) Eberly of Orrville, Donald "Milt" (Carol) Eberly of Orrville and Marilyn (Dwayne) Miller of Kidron, and; fifteen grandchildren, Mike (Janelle) Eberly, Matt (Debbie) Eberly, Dianne (Jeff) Martin, Ryan (Brianna) Eberly, Trisha (Mike) Graybill, Ryan (Emily) Burkholder, Kyle (Joanna) Burkholder, Kevin (Molly) Burkholder, Brad (Katie) Eberly, Grant Eberly, Zack Miller, Derek Miller, Jennifer (Arlynn) Geiser, and Kellie (Ryan) Bucher, and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her five sisters.

Mary E. (Hoover) Eberly, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away on July 28, 2022 at the Village at Morrisons Cove. She was born on April 6, 1941 in Lancaster County, daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Sensenig) Hoover. Mary was united in marriage to Jonas R. Eberly for 33 years; he preceded her in death on December 31, 1997. She was a member of the Groffdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
Mary was preceded in death by a son, J. Aaron Eberly; two granddaughters; and siblings Arlene Martin, David Hoover, Leroy Hoover, Ervin Hoover, and John Aaron Hoover. Surviving is son, W. Paul Eberly and wife Sandra (Zimmerman) of Lititz; son, Timothy J. Eberly and wife Ruth (Nolt)of Newville; son, Matthew H. Eberly and wife Ellen (Nolt) of Myerstown; daughter, Marian J. Oberholtzer and husband Warren of Woodbury; daughter, Mary E. Burkholder and husband Marlin of Williamsburg; brother, Frank Hoover of New Holland; as well as 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Jeanette Breneman Ebersole, 87, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022 after a brief illness. She had recently moved from Mount Joy to Pleasant View Communities, Manheim, where she received excellent care during her short stay. Born in Lancaster on April 21, 1935, she was the daughter of the late J. Roy and Nora (Greiner) Breneman. She was the wife of the late Wilbur M. (Red) Ebersole for 55 years, prior to his death in 2013. Jeanette is survived by three sons, Jeffrey B., husband of Nancy (Wiker) of Elizabethtown, Brian K., husband of Deborah (Gehman Ney), and Gary D., husband of Kathleen (Yecker), both of Mount Joy; seven grandchildren: Chad Ney (Shannon), Chelsey Ney (Dan), Mitchell (Rebecca), Jeremy, Eric (Amanda), Madison, and Mayelin. She is also survived by two sisters: Marion Mosemann, and Jeanette's twin sister Janice (Ken) Shenenberger, both of Manheim. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty (Paul) Hess and Arlene (Galen) Nissley, one brother Merle (Nancy) Breneman, and brother-in-law Don Mosemann.
Jeanette graduated from Mount Joy High School in 1953. She was an active member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church for over 60 years. Jeanette held several jobs throughout the years, including admissions at LGH, Proofreader at the Mount Joy Bulletin and Engle Printing, Para-professional (teacher's aide) at Elm Tree Elementary School for 7 years, and secretary at Mount Joy Mennonite church for many years, but her greatest passion was caring for and supporting her family. She rarely missed a sporting event, school concert, or church event that her children and grandchildren were involved in, and was always willing to pitch in as a volunteer for these activities. Jeanette was a wonderful cook and baker, receiving requests for her special coconut cake recipe.
Jeanette and Red were always up for a game of cards with friends, and she continued her joy of card playing with many dear friends from church, her women's group, and her retirement community friends after Red's passing. Jeanette enjoyed family vacations, especially winter trips to Florida, as well as an annual trip to Ocean City, NJ with her sisters. Although not one to draw attention to herself, she had a quick wit and was able to pull off a good practical joke, when appropriate. Jeanette also had a great love of cats, and had many throughout her married years (but never more than one at a time).
A memorial service honoring Jeanette's life will be held at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy on June 1st, at 4:00pm. A private family interment service will take place at Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery. The Ebersole family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Norman David Ebersole, 85, of Washington C.H., Ohio passed away, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at his son's home in Waynesboro, PA. Born Saturday, December 19, 1936 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Harry L. Ebersole and the late Rosetta M. (Wadel) Ebersole. He was a member of Good Hope Mennonite Church in Washington C.H., Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Janet Ann (Wiker) Ebersole; five sons, Norman David Ebersole, Jr. and wife Ellen of Newburg, PA, Stephen L. Ebersole and wife Lorena of Washington C.H., OH, Arlen R. Ebersole and wife June of Waynesboro, PA, Mark E. Ebersole and wife Norma of Hagerstown, MD, Luke W. Ebersole and wife Barbara of Wautoma, WI, sister, Mary Catherine Martin and husband Clair of Hagerstown, MD, sister-in-law, Wanda Ebersole of Chambersburg, PA, twenty eight grandchildren and thirty four great-grandchildren. Mrs. LaVonda J. “Vonnie” (Martin) Gehman Eby, 79, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in her home.
Born August 22, 1942 in Guilford Springs Township, Franklin County, PA she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Savilla (Shetter) Martin.
She grew up in Marion, PA and moved to Wisconsin after she married Daniel Leroy Gehman. Daniel passed away Dec. 25, 1993, and Vonnie moved back to the area in 1995. She married Harold Edward Eby May 4, 2002 at Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg, PA.
Vonnie was a wonderful person. She kept a good home and was a person with a lot of patience. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four step-children: Ruth E. Herr (Mervin,) Gettysburg, PA; Carolyn M. Grove (Ivan), Hanover, PA; Harold D. Eby (Doris), Hagerstown, MD; Linda K. Diller (Jay), Greencastle, PA; 19 step-grandchildren; 40 step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Ann Thompson, Pensacola, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Jessica D. Eby, a sister, Margaret Harmon and a brother, Richard Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Mount Olive Mennonite Church, 13305 Maugansville Rd. Hagerstown, MD, with Mount Olive church ministry officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

Trennis Matthew Eigsti, beloved son of Matthew and Gloria Eigsti, was born on December 2, 2004 at Hughesville, MO.
He was suddenly taken from our midst on September 26, 2022 in a car accident, while driving to work at the age of 17 years, 9 months, and 24 days.
He accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized on January 12, 2020 at Olive Hill Amish Mennonite Church, remaining faithful unto his death.
He will be greatly missed by his sorrowing parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers; Karmen and husband Nevin Hostetler, Hotchkiss, CO; Ryan and wife Stephanie; Kylan and wife June; Kaitlyn and husband Kent Kropf; Rhonda and husband Vin Knox; Michael and wife Sandi; Michelle and husband Kevin Knox all of Sedalia, MO; 8 nieces and 6 nephews; Maternal grandmother Sarah Christner.
He was preceded in death by nephew Israel Shepard; maternal grandfather Frank Christner; paternal grandparents Jerrold and Bessie Eigsti; an Uncle Archie and 7 cousins.
He just recently started his job at Mid-States which he enjoyed and always came home with a smile on his face. He preferred being at home and seemed content. His nieces and nephews were special to him, and he enjoyed many happy times with them, especially his nephews.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to everyone for their prayers, presence, help, food and sympathy during this difficult time.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite School.

Susie S. Erb 72, of Millersburg, [OH] passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday, March 7, 2022 following a massive stroke. She was born on November 4, 1949 to the late Sam D. and Lizzie (Hershberger) Erb. Susie did some house cleaning for local folks and also enjoyed volunteering at the Save and Serve Thrift Shop on Thursdays. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her siblings, Ada (Atlee) Yoder of Millersburg, Ella (late Roy) Raber of Baltic, Lydia Ann Erb of the home, Paul S. (Elizabeth) Erb of the home; 16 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Roy Raber and her nephew Robert Yoder.
Funeral services will be held at the Paul S. Erb residence, 4743 TR 156, Millersburg, on Wednesday, March 9, at 9:00 a.m. with Bishop Matthew D. Yoder officiating. Lena Rachel Esh, age 82, of Gordonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at home after a 6-year battle with cancer. She was the wife of Daniel S. Esh with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage on November 8th. Born in Churchtown, she was the daughter of late Daniel F. and Rachel Esh. She was a member of Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, Bird In Hand, PA.
Surviving are 7 children: Jacob husband of Becky Stoltzfus Esh of Honey Brook, PA, Lloyd husband of Mary Ellen King Esh of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Martha wife of Nathan Bange of Smoketown, Kenneth husband of DeAnn Zook Esh of Gordonville, Glenn husband of Jennifer Beachy Esh of Gordonville, Michelle wife of Jesse Stoltzfus of Parkesburg, Eugene husband of Andrea Mullet Esh of Gordonville, 46 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. One brother John Esh of Narvon and a sister Barbara Stoltzfus of Elverson. She was proceeded in death 7 grandchildren (stillbirth), 2 sisters Sadie and Rebecca, 6 brothers Jonas, Amos, Stephen, Daniel, stillborn, and David.
Mom loved gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed making blankets for the children and grandchildren. She opened her home to people from all over the world, serving them food and giving them a place to stay for the night. While doing so, she always shared the love of Jesus with them. She enjoyed mentoring people and encouraging them. Mom loved singing and music which she passed on to her family and we often gathered around to sing for her up to the moment of her passing.
Her love of Jesus began as a young child in elementary school. She passionately pursued Jesus for the rest of her life. Even in her last days, she wanted to attend church although she wasn't physically able to. She prayed faithfully for her children and grandchildren by name, passing on her legacy of faith to the generations to come. Many family members share her passion for spreading the gospel both locally and overseas. She and Daddy were members of the Gideons for the past 45 years.
The funeral service will be at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2900 Church Road, Bird in Hand, PA, on Tuesday, December 13 at 11 a.m. The viewings will be at the church on Monday, December 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Carol Elizabeth Falb, 68, of Dalton, fought a courageous battle and went home to be with her Lord, whom she loved on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Millersburg on November 25, 1953, to a loving family the late Emanuel and Tena (Yutzy) Barkman and married Delmar Falb on June 9, 1973 and had 48 beautiful years with him. He survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by their children, Dawn (Merv) Stoltzfus of Fredericksburg and grandchildren Camden, CJ, Kate and Will; Michael (Heather) Falb of Grandridge, FL and grandchildren Kirsten, Courtney, Brooklyn, Jed and Jacoby, great grandson, Major; Jenelle (Mike) Eberly of Orrville and grandchildren Hailey and Jace; and Gary (Jennifer) Falb of Kidron and grandchildren Gavyn and Grayson; sisters, Ruth (Al) Hochstetler of Fredericksburg and Rose Barkman of Wooster; a brother, Dave (Mary) Barkman of Apple Creek.
She was very hospitable, loved many, mentored woman, and taught Sunday School. Hosted many garden parties, celebrated her children and grandchildren and was very vested in the people around her.

Dan D. Fisher, 74, of Mesopotamia, Ohio, passed away suddenly at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, January 17, 2022. He was born to the late Dan J. and Mary (Weaver) Fisher on September 9, 1947, in Mesopotamia, Ohio and had been a lifetime resident. Dan married Nancy M. (Mast) on November 25, 1971, and recently celebrated their fifty year anniversary. He owned and operated Mespo Remodeling and worked in construction. Dan was a member of the Old Order Amish.
Dan is survived by his wife Nancy (Mast ) Fisher, children Jean Marie Fisher, Linda (Mike) Bytnar, Susan (Reuben) Troyer, Mary (Samuel) Byler, Daniel (Saloma) Fisher, Johnny (Martha) Fisher, Nancy (Mark) Byler, Barbara (Stephen) Eicher, Robert (Ella) Fisher, his siblings Minnie Byler, Joe (Edna) Fisher, John (Emma) Fisher, Fannie (Bill) Detweiler, Linda (Henry) Borkholder, Mary (Les) Byler, 37 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Monroe Fisher. A grad daughter Elizabeth Fisher, and a brother, Chris Fisher.

Nancy M. Fisher,70, of Mesopotamia Ohio, passed away peacefully at University Hospital on February 13, 2022. She was born to the late Monroe T. and Maryann (Miller) Mast on February 16, 1951. Nancy married Dan Fisher on November 25, 1971, in Mesopotamia, Ohio and recently celebrated their fifty-year anniversary. She enjoyed working in their garden, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Nancy was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Nancy is survived by her children Jean Marie Fisher, Linda (Mike) Bytner, Susan (Reuben) Troyer, Mary (Samuel) Byler, Daniel (Saloma) Fisher, Johnny (Martha) Fisher, Nancy (Mark) Byler, Barbara (Stephen) Eicher, Robert (Ella) Fisher, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Charles Henry Forry, 76, of Mount Crawford, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Forry was born April 26, 1946, in York, Pa., and was a son of the late Paul and Helen (Grove) Forry. He was the loving husband of Alma Grace (Hess) Forry for almost 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughters, Christopher Forry of York, Pa., Johanna Kauffman of Wisconsin, Beth and Dean Wadel of Mount Crawford, Elizabeth and Daniel Brown of Titusville, Fla.; grandchildren, Sierra, Dawson, Lindsey, and Joelle Kauffman, Amber, Nicole, Jevon, Alyssa, Shayla, Kaden Wadel, Alexis and Jasmine Brown; a brother, Paul and Joanne Forry of East Berlin, Pa.; and a sister, Mary Garman of Landisburg, Pa.

Frey, Albert W. passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Palmerston Hospital in his 65th year.
Dearly beloved husband of Eileen (Martin) Frey of Palmerston. Dear father of Darryl (Chrissy) of Mt. Forest, Rosanne (Lester) Martin of Elmira, Steven (Dorothy) of Harriston, Dale (Melissa) of Breslau, and Donna (Derrick) Frey of Moorefield. Loving Grandfather to 13 grandchildren. Son of Mary Ann (Weber) Frey. Brother of Gordon (Marlene), Irene (Willard) Horst, Elmer (Doris), Mary (Donald) Horst, Erma (Willis) Horst, Edward (Marilyn). Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father Aden Frey and nephew Glen Frey.

Harvey O. Fry, 85, of Ligonier (District 28-2), died at 2:15 am, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Life Care Center in LaGrange. He was born on January 4, 1937, in Kansas, to David D. and Ola (Bontrager) Fry. On December 25, 1963, in Ligonier he married Edna Violetta Garver, she died December 7, 2001. On October 16, 2002, in Ligonier he married Mary Pauline Miller, she died June 17, 2011. On November 23, 2012, he married Lydian A. Mast, she died December 7, 2020.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Lee (Ruby) Fry of Topeka, Marlin Dale (Mary Kay) Fry of Ligonier, Mervin H. (Mary Jane) Fry of Millersburg; two daughters, Karen Kay (David H.) Lambright of Topeka, Lydia Sue (Vernon A.) Yoder of Topeka; six step-sons, Irvin G. (Ruby Fern) Bontrager of Syracuse, Perry G. (Doris) Bontrager of Florida, Ernest G. (Elsa Mae) Bontrager of Topeka, Daniel G. (Alice Marie) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Levi G. Bontrager of Florida, William G. Bontrager of Middlebury; two step-daughters, Amanda G. (Amos Eugene) Slabaugh of New Paris, Millie G. Bontrager of Goshen; 33 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 35 step-grandchildren, 86 step great-grandchildren, one step great-great-grandchild; six brothers, Glen Fry of Topeka, Vern Fry of Topeka, Paul (Elsie) Fry of Topeka, Jacob (Susie) Fry of Topeka, Ira (Alma) Fry of Middlebury, Danny Fry of Gary; three sisters, Ada Lambright of Topeka, Ida (Jonas) Miller of Topeka, Iva (Alton) Yoder of Goshen; sister-in-law, Mattie Fry.
He was preceded in death by his wives; parents; grandson, Kevin Yoder; brother, David Fry; and step-son-in-law, Amos LaVern Bontrager.
Harvey was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, and all-day Thursday, December 8, at the Marlin Fry residence: 11662 N. SR 5 in Ligonier. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Friday, December 9, also at the Marlin Fry residence. Services will be conducted by the home ministers. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home is taking care of the arrangements.

Melvin D. Fry, 66, of LaGrange, died unexpectedly at 11:35 pm on Friday, February 18, at Goshen Health Hospital. He was born on January 17, 1956, in LaGrange, to Dan J. and Lydia (Helmuth) Fry. On November 17, 1976, in LaGrange, he married Rosetta Lehman, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are six sons, Joseph (JoAnna) Fry of Shipshewana, Dannie (special friend, Carlee) Fry of White Pigeon, MI, Steven (Naomi) Fry of LaGrange, William (Marlene) Fry of Middlefield, OH, Glen (Sarah) Fry of New Paris, Joni (Lori) Fry of Goshen; four daughters, Lorene (LaVern) Lambright of LaGrange, Mary Sue (John) Miller of Shipshewana, LaVera (Orlie) Miller of Topeka, Nora (Ryan) Raber of Goshen; 26 grandchildren; four brothers, Chris (Katie) Fry of Conneaut Lake, PA, Joe (Bonnie) Fry of Constantine, MI, Dan Jr. (Ruby) Fry of Nappanee, Clarence (Polly Anna) Fry of Millersburg; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Vernon) Raber, Esther Anna Fry both of Abbeville, SC; sister-in-law, Pollyanna Fry of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Eugene Miller; three brothers, John, Jacob, and Willard Fry; two infant brothers and two infant sisters.
Mel was the owner operator of a wood finishing shop. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 20 and all day Monday, February 21 at the family residence, 3365 S. 300 W., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday, February 22 also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Ervin Bontrager Jr. and the Home Ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
Frye, Mary A. Miller
February 22, 1933 - June 10, 2022
Mary A. Frye, 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt died at 3:55 pm on Friday, June 10, [2022] at her son Keith's residence in Middlebury. She had been in declining health the past 3 1/2 months. Mary was born February 22, 1933, in LaGrange County, to Jonas and Amanda (Stutzman) Miller, and was the fifth of seven children. She had lived most of her life in the Middlebury area and three years in Holmes County, Ohio. On May 31, 1958, she married Noah H. Frye at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2021.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Grant (Peggy) Frye and Kerry Wayne (Tina) Frye both of Middlebury; five grandchildren, Jenson, Brenna (Swope), Steven, Grant, and Nicole Frye.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Katie Rheinheimer and Betty Yoder; four brothers, LeRoy, Dennis, Jonas Jr., and Joe Miller.
Mary had been an active member of First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. She loved sewing, quilting, and making comforters for MCC. Mary waitressed 30 years at the Shipshewana Auction Barn Restaurant, where she never knew a stranger!
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 pm on Monday, June 13 at the First Mennonite Church, 203 E. Lawrence in Middlebury. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
